MagicMarker Example
MagicMarker provides user-definable notifications for trend parameter thresholds, e.g., EEG asymmetry, suppression ratios, frequency ratios, seizure detections, and more. These can be displayed at the bedside, announced with a sound file, or sent via email. The examples below show trends and EEG images on a small screen via email attachment.
So, why not use a simple numeric pager alert? The reason is that a page and/or text message does not include enough information to act upon. For information that can be acted upon in a timely manner, you need to see the trends and EEG waveforms that triggered the notification.
MagicMarker's web output provides the ability to remotely view the trend and EEG waveform data, and navigate anywhere within the recording, using virtually any web browser.

On Your Laptop...
Use MagicMarker's full-size displays for remote access from your desktop or laptop computer
With MagicMarker, you have full control of the trending and trace displays from the bedside—you select the trends and traces that will be available for remote review via Internet browser.

On Your Apple iPhone...
Zoom, pan, and navigate with your fingertips using the iPhone's multi-touch gestures (actual screen captures).

Full-screen trend on the Apple iPhone. MagicMarker Web places "hotspots" in the upper-left and upper-right corners to page forward or back in the trend. MagicMarker Email attaches the relevant trend to your message.

The iPhone's "pinch" gesture can be used to zoom in on any area of the trend.

Tapping on the trend takes you to the underlying EEG with MagicMarker Web. MagicMarker Email attaches the underlying EEG to your message.

The iPhone's "pinch" gesture can be used to zoom in on any area of the EEG trace.

On Your Palm Treo...
Current Treo 755p (Palm OS) 320x320 screen. (Actual screen captures. Note that these images are 50% of actual size.) Note image zoom tools at bottom-left. Pan/scroll image via stylus or fingertip on the touch-screen. Treo set to automatically download email at user-defined intervals.

 Example
BED 1 Periodic seizures are particularly visible in the R2D2 and EEG asymmetry trends. To see the panel, click on the link for BED 1 below. Once you are there, use the "hot spots" on the MagicMarker Panel and EEG traces to navigate.
BED 2 Refractory Epilepsy. There are right and left hemisphere seizures throughout this recording. The most recent time is displayed, so click on the upper-left corner to page backward through the trends, and note the big seizure at 15:33, followed by beta after administration of Ativan. The seizure activity is exhibited most clearly in the R2D2 and EEG Asymmetry Indices and Asymmetry Spectrogram. The new SQRT scale allows visualization of the seizures interspersed with the beta. Again, using OneTouchEEG you can jump right to the underlying EEG traces.
BED 3 Suppression-Burst Pattern. 4 y/o with status epilepticus secondary to presumed viral encephalitis. Was managed with pentobarbital induced burst suppression, using continuous EEG as a guide. Tracing starts with the patient in burst suppression, and then there are periods when it is more continuous. (Use the bottommost Suppression Ratio trend.)
BED 4 Wada Test. Note the EEG asymmetry trend for right and left carotid injections.
BED 5 CEA. Note the EEG asymmetry trend for clamp and the later ischemic change in the EEG. Also note that Alpha/Delta Ratio does not indicate the EEG changes as well as EEG Asymmetry measures (Relative Alpha Variability is not as effective as EEG Asymmetry measures for this example as well).
BED 6 Leukoencephalopathy syndrome with multiple right temporal seizures, some seizures exhibit a spread to right central.
The following MagicMarker Home Page example has links for 10 beds to show how a simple multi-bed page may be set up.
